I find it to be a little rushed and exhaustive for my Sweet Country disposition.
And try as I might.
I have not been able to wrestle the perfectly relaxed holiday, that I envision in my mind.
And in my heart.
Oh yes, I have made great improvements here and there.
But on the whole, this mama has more room for improvement, to be sure.
So if you were to ask me.....
"Am I a before kind of girl or after?"
I would most assuredly say......
"After"
After Christmas is by far my favorite time.
After all has calmed and quieted.
After all has settled.
After all has been finished.
That is my favorite.
Absolutely.
The week after Christmas.......
We really, really take a break.
We don't clean.
We don't take down the tree.
We don't get out of our P.J.s until near lunch.
We nap.
A lot.
We cuddle, snuggle, giggle, and rock a lot.
We watch movies.
We detox from sugar overload.
We eat yummy, healthy soul food.
We take all of the time in the world being with each other.
We don't worry about a thing.
We let every.single.thing. slide.
And.....my husband writes me notes about why he loves me so, "after" all of these years.
This is our 23d Christmas together after all.
I can hardly believe it's so.
Because sometimes I still feel like I am 23.
Oh yes.
After.
After.
After.
Happily Ever After.
XO

Sounds like a wonderful week! I am very much on the same page as you are...the week after is when a Mama's gets her turn to enjoy her family and the season. ;)
Hope you have a restful, joyful week!
Enjoy your relaxation. You deserve it!
BTW, new grandson today. Joshua Christian. 6 lbs. 5 oz. 19.5 inches long.
Now, can you think of anything better than that this special week?

Linda in Mississippi~ Thank you!
Happy New Year!
Amanda~ Love this week!
This is a great reminder. Sometimes I get a little sad after Christmas, especially when I stare ahead into the long months of January and February. But it is true that I have been enjoying a little down time and some of the 'after'. I wonder if I will remember to enjoy it next week when I have to go back to school. :)
Sounds cozy in your home!!!! I think that I LOVE before, during, and after Christmas. I love it all. The preparations and festivities(i get excited like my kids), the actual day (so fun being with all of our family), and after (doing nothing all day and snuggling with each other.) I love this time of the year!!
