I'm a jar girl.
I love jars.
In fact....
I have never met a jar that I didn't like.
Mason
Ball
Kerr
You name it.
I have it.
And beings how I love them so.
Last month.
I got them all out.
And lined them up like sweet little glass soldiers.
All in a sparkly and shiny row.
And now, when I look across my kitchen, and see all of my pantry staple basics.
It just makes me smile.
And a little swooney.
I love the farmhouse feel that it adds to the more serious side of my kitchen.
All Sweet Country like.
In my jars you'll find.....
*Organic*
Raw evaporated sugar cane crystals
Sucanat
Rolled oats
Steel cut oats
Rice
Brown sugar
Bulk pancake mix
Homemade granola.
and...
Soaked Almonds.
It's my baking slash breakfast station.
And the cabinet above holds all of the rest of my supplies.
You know, all on my Sweet Country spices and such.
I also love collecting old scoops and measuring cups to use and keep in my jars.
{I find these at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales.
Which also is a great place to shop for jars as well!}
That way I'm not always digging for something to use in the midst of prepping and preparing.
Some of my other favorite uses for jars....
Perfect for cut flowers.
Think:
Sunflowers
Zinnias
Roses
Lilac
And Hydrangeas.
Cleaning supplies.
Cosmetics.
Crafts and sewing supplies.
School supplies.
Left-overs.
And of course canning!
How can we forget canning?
Jar love.
For sure.
For sure.
Next post~ See the last photo and the jar of almonds?
I'll be sharing about how and why I soak our almonds.
I know that some of you expressed interest in knowing what/how/why in the area of soaking.
And, although I am no expert in this area. I will tell you what I do soak and why.
It's a journey to better health at the Country House.
And it's all about baby steps.

Do you use labels? how do you know what is what kind of flour, spice etc.? Somne of them look a like to me. I'm trying to figure out the cutest way to label everything on my jars, while still keeping the beautiful-ness of the jar in tact.
I just LOVE your jars Kristin! I use them, too, and collect all kinds. I wish I had some of your scoops....I'll be on the lookout this summer at yard sales:).
Have a great day!
~Julia
I love how you have them all lined up!!! It just screams homemade goodness!
I love jars too!!! Fun post!
XOXOXO
Your jars look so pretty on your counter! LOVE all of your scoops, too.
I'm excited to hear about how you soak your grains....I've been wanting to get started w/that for awhile & just haven't been brave enough to try/learn. Simple, baby steps sounds like just what I need!!
LOVE jars! I like to keep our homemade yogurt in them, and pre-make a handful of fruit and yogurt parfaits in the little jam jars. Great for Hubby to grab on his way upstairs (where he works in the home office). And of course, they make the loveliest of flower vases!
Cute!! Looove jars too, although I've just come to my senses within the last couple of years. Again, older and wiser... ;)
Oh you silly goose! ME TOO, ME TOO! I have them all over my house! I have crochet hooks in them, old photos of my great grandparents, buttons, wooden spools, etc. In the kitchen its popcorn, dried beans, one with hard candies, etc.
I love jars too, and you have just made a very important decision for me. Well, important to decorating, that is. Thank you!
Y'all are some jar huggers...I mean jar lovers too!
Clearly, it takes very little to please us...
And that's a GOOD thing!
I should mention a couple of things here.
This only some of my jars.
The idea was to show you my pantry storage.
I use many more for other dry goods as well.
Like, Jenn.
"Homesteading Quest" asked about labeling.
I do label sometimes. And when I do. I use a dry erase marker on the lid. That way the jar stays pretty and the label can be wiped off.
LeAnna mentioned her homemade yogurt parfaits...um, yum!
I shared with her that I too, like to take the jam sized jars and fill with cooked oats, a splash of cream, a smear of butter, and add a drizzle of pure maple syrup. Especially when leaving first thing in the morning. Screw on a lid. grab a spoon and and yo have a perfect fast food breakfast!!
Theresa~ You know you'll have to share with me, what you did! ;-)
I love glass jars, too, espeically Mason, Kerr and Ball jars. I"ve been looking for some at garage sales. I found your blog via the Homstead Barn Hop today :) Have a great week. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather ;)
Jar lover here, too! I have a lot of spices/herbs I have bought in bulk, and the pint jars are perfect for them. My entire hoosier cabinet is filled with...jars. I make kombucha in gallon jars, as well as fermented sauerkraut and kimchi. I need to get me some scoops/cups now!
I'm a Jar girl too! I'm just about to paint an old TV armour and turn it into a pantry for our kitchen, but you have inspired me to leave a few out just for fun too! I think Target carries stick on chalkboard labels!
Love your jars! They are so pretty with anything in them. I love wildflowers in mine :-)
Looking forward to your next post~
~Cinnamon
Thank you for sharing your beautiful jars - I love them too. I have also been learning about soaking grains/nuts and the wonderful benefits of doing so - now to just add it to my routine.
Warm wishes,
Tonya
I have jars holding supplies on my counter too. I love them.Mine store beans, noddles, dried tomatoes, rice, dried jalapenos, dried corn, dried green peppers, and last of all Candy's baking mix.
I wish I had the space to put all my jars out like that (Shhh...don't tell anyone. I have a jar fetish also!) My latest find this weekend was 9 large, antique blue Ball jars with tops intact. Found them at a quilter's auction of all places...
Do you have a good recipe for homemade granola? Everyone here loves it but the homemade types I have made have not been great, and the cost in the store is excessive even in bulk. Would love to hear! :) Thanks and blessings, Steph.
Oh my goodness! These are gorgeous. You have a couple of antique jars there. **pitter patter**
We would normally have jars out too but we've had a toddler. Give it a year and we may be back to normal.
I'd be honored if you'd share this post on our new weekly link up -- Friday Food Flicks -- Amanda
I love jars too! Yours are so pretty I'm tempted to get mine out of the pantry.
Thanks all of you sweet girls!
Who knew jars would be so fun and pretty?!
XO
I love your jars and I love the irregularity of sizes and shapes and especially the sparkle!
